Salvatore Ferragamo Museum
On Thursday a group of students and I went to the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence. Salvatore Ferragamo was a famous shoe designer, and later designed accesories and clothing. The museum is in the basement of its store on Via del Tornabuoni. At first glance I thought that the museum was small, had a few displays and was a short exhibit. Unknowingly we had a tour guide that was incredibly informative and I absolutely loved the exhibit! I feel like if you like shoes you will love the exhibit and fall in love with each and every one of Ferragamo's shoes. He had designed for many celebrities in Hollywood in the 1930s and he loved experimenting with different kinds of materials. His first shoe was made out of fish skin. At the young age of 13 he owned his first store and ended up winning the Neiman Marcus award with his invisible shoe collection made out of fishing wire. Ferragamo had his own signature heel called the "F heel" and was so famous due to his want for a perfect fit! I think Salvatore Ferragamo was brilliant and I really enjoyed his exhibit.
