Later one we moved into the apparel side of Gucci and I thought it was interesting how they had different iconic logos throughout the years. As I passed through each room in the exhibit, each one was a different theme. There was even a movie at the end that I thought was going to be inspiring but instead, left me feeling a little scared and unsure.

GUCCI, fendi, prada!
The Gucci Museum finally opened their doors a couple weeks ago and we got to go see it on Thursday! I was so excited to see the history of the great fashion brand. I found out that I walk past the original Gucci store on the way to class everyday and never knew how much significance it really had. I loved all the different displays of luggage they had, I've always enjoyed luggage more than handbags and purses for some strange reason. So therefore I loved every piece of luggage they had, I also like the way they put their logo on everything, sometimes more loud than other but it was always there. There was Gucci car in the exhibit and I inspected it every inch and every detailing from buttons to trims and fabrics, everything was Gucci.

Costume Gallery :)
I have been debating weather or not to specialized into costume design or not. I feel like it would be so fun to design for movies and plays. But when we went to the costume gallery it wasn't what I was expecting, I thought it incredibly interesting but it was more of a historic fashion museum. I learned a lot from Sara Paci, I love listening to her talk she is very informative and I think it is fascinating how much she knows about Italian culture.
I saw numerous dressed from bridal to nightgowns, nightgowns for royalty and how each detail had a certain meaning. Like everything in historic costume, there was so much work and patience in each piece, it was a piece of art. Now that I look at it, fashion has changed so much, I sometimes feel like some of the clothes we buy now are meaningless copies and don't have as much as a purpose as they did in the past. When I saw one of the first historic bridal gowns I was so amazing on how the culture has changed the similar styles, such as taking certain detailing and making it today. I always love learning about historic costume and this time was no different.

Milan: The Fashion Capital!!
After a hectic yet fun weekend in Milan and Como my amazing journey across Italy continues. I have been waiting for this trip to Milan to finally come, to visit the fashion capital of the world! Milan is home to so many fashion mogals and designers, it was a city with lots of money and wealth. You could definately tell fashion was in the air, just the way everybody was dressed and presented themselves was so great!
I wish we had more than just one day in Milan, I feel there was much more to see and not enough time to see everything. Milan was a beautiful city and I would have loved to have been there during fashion week and feel the energy and vibe during such a epic time of the year.
Como was yet another city I hoped we could have stayed longer in it was a gorgeous city, from what I saw from it, it was a mix of the feel of a city and the beauty of the Amalfi Coast. The view from Lake Como was breath-taking, the day that we went was even foggy so I can even imagine what it could have looked like on a clear day. Overall it was a great weekend and I love exploring different parts of Italy and how each city has their own personality and feel.

Capucci Foundation
This week I went to the Capucci Foundation which is located across the river and towards the hillside of Florence. When we went to the Capucci foundation they forgot about our tour guide so instead we had just a self guided tour.
Roberto Capucci was a great fashion designer that made fabulous couture evening gowns and dresses. He loved using color in his dresses. What I noticed in his designs was that he made had many creative shapes with pleating and other incredibly fine handwork. All his work had to of taken hundreds and hundreds of hours to finish. There was a lot of accordian pleating and then formed into large fan shapes and added to the already glamous dress. All his designs were over the top and gorgeous. There were some sketches of his work displayed in the exhibit as well as his actual garments. But there were some sketches that I didn't see the dresses in which I really would've liked.
Uffizi Glamour
The Uffizi was a lot more than I was expecting! This museum was huge! I wish I could've stayed longer because everything in there was so fascinating, I loved art history so therefore I love museums. I saw so much artwork that I had seen in slides and textbooks prior to going to the Uffizi. I thought it was so interesting to see how large or even tiny some of the artworks actually were, since we just usually just see thumbnails.
The Uffizi was originally an office building for Lorenzo Medici, and there brought together the administration offices of the state. It has now become one of the largest museums in Italy, for a fact there were too many pieces originally that they had to spread them throughout other museums in Florence. One thing that I love about the Uffizi was how beautiful each and every piece was. Some well known artists that were shown in the Uffizi were Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Overall I loved my experience at the Uffizi and I would definately go back again sometime.
